- Warm Period - Paintings that focus on emotion and color, impressionistic in nature. Soft edges and suggestions of movement are apparent, adding an atmospheric quality. Warmer colors are used more frequently.
- Cool Period - Paintings that focus more on detail and form, characterized by a lack of emotion and a cartoony look. Poor use of color and light can also be seen in each piece.
