Beginning in 2009, I finally decided to let go of my obsession for detail and form in favor of developing a more impressionistic style to my painting. The results have been intriguing so far, but it has also been very difficult to break away from old habits, to break through the self-imposed and familiar technical filters that divide my mind from my hand.
I think this will be the key to adding warmth to my paintings, to inject the emotion necessary to translate the passion I feel for the subject more effectively. I look forward to the journey ahead - the first paintings reflecting this new style will be posted during the Spring of 2012 (April-May).
